The American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA)

The American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) is one of the most prestigious affiliations that a trial attorney can achieve during a career. ABOTA has existed for over 50 years. There are only 6,300 members in the world while California alone has approximately 217,000 lawyers admitted to its Bar. To become a member, a trial attorney must be invited, sponsored by an existing member, and approved by at least 75% of the chapter's membership. To qualify, all members must have tried numerous civil cases before a jury to conclusion with a verdict.

Todd Bissell was honored with an invitation to join ABOTA and has held an Associate status with their Sacramento Valley Chapter since 2007.

School Bus Accident in Laurel Grove

"A St. Mary's County Public School Bus was involved in a fender bender with a single passenger car. There were 11 children on board being transported. No children were reported hurt according to police on the scene. The driver of the passenger car suffered minor injuries.

Responding units at the time were so overwhelmed with multiple accidents, that transport vehicles were difficult to assign. At one point dispatchers attempted to get an ambulance from Charles to cover the accident, but none were available. Finally, Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue responded once they were clear of an earlier accident."(1/27/2009 TheBayNet.com)

SAN FRANCISCO — Two disabled high school students were sent to UCSF Medical Center Monday morning after a minor injury accident in the Sunset District involving the school bus they were riding.

The bus was in the slow lane of Lincoln Avenue and was headed to Lowell High School, which is near Lake Merced, just after 8 a.m. when it was struck by a car making a right turn from Seventh Avenue onto Lincoln Avenue, California Highway Patrol Officer Shawn Chase said.

The impact to the right front of the bus pushed it into a car traveling in the fast lane, Chase said.

Two boys, 15 and 16, were transported to the hospital to be checked out. The students didn’t have any visible injuries but had trouble communicating whether they were in pain, Chase said.
